Day: 14

I have just about emerged from the forest thank goodness. Food poisoning is an evil made even more evil when you know the nearest doctor will probably not understand english and possibly not the concerns of taking drugs while breastfeeding... and by a little bambina who doesn't understand why her 3am feed keeps being being interrupted for no good reason. Now I will add anti-nausea etc pills to my packing list as mandatory items. Perhaps I should have paid more attention to the church bells calling us to church at 10 to 7 every evening.

Saturday brings new apartment joy at Casa Ivetta. It's clean and modern with great views and is just metres from the marcelleria (milk bar type shop). We will miss the peace and tranquility and spacious terrace but not the dampness of Casa Costantina. The bedroom here is gorgeous, with beautiful matching linen that looks like it belongs in a magazine and doesn't remind me of my nanna's place or Dennis of prison.

The view from our kitchen window

I also don't miss the 103 steps up to the apartment from the piazza. The internal staircase from the lounge to the bedroom however is steep and the steps shallow and a little bit scary - I almost fell down them our first night here. Aleks would not be impressed as I'm sure they don't come close to modern building standards.

The kitchen is even teenier and weenier than the last but it is modern with a dishwasher just like ours at home and there are two moka pots and a milk frother.

There is no gelateria in town so we have resorted to buying 'normal' icecreams. not knowing much Italian delivers some surprises like lemon gelati style icecream on a stick made fully from licorice.

Sounds of Praiano:
Birds chirping, roosters crowing, chickens making those chicken noises, dogs yapping, the beep beep of the buses as they go round the blind corners, nyeeer nyeer of scooters and little 3 wheel trucks, kids playing soccer in the piazza, church bells every 15 mins, the calm during siesta (1-4pm).

Oh yes, and a picture or two of Two Tooth Tara for Kiki :-)

Do they have babies as cute as Tara in Italy? I doubt it.
